Privacy SiG privacy policy
This is the privacy policy for Privacy Special Interest Group (PrivacySiG). PrivacySiG is a non profit organisation consisting of members with interest in Privacy and specifically privacy of WiFi analytics.Â
PrivacySiG ry is a global organisation registered in Finland (registration 213.469).
What information do we collect and what is it used for?
We collect MAC addresses for the purpose of opting out from WiFi analytics carried out by our members. We collect the MAC address submitted to us, the time of submission, the IP of the submitter and the user-identifier header sent by the browser. The MAC address is distributed among our members in order to allow them to avoid processing the opted out MAC's. The IP, time of submission and browser identifier is only used for abuse prevention and to allow us to diagnose any faults.
Who is this information shared with?
The MAC address and timestamp is distributed to our members. The other information is not shared. We use ReCaptcha by Google on the website and the website is hosted by Weebly. Information about your connection will be transmitted to them only as is necessary to allow you to use this service. You can review their privacy policies here (weebly.com) and here (google.com).
How long do we store the data?
A opt out is permanent, the MAC address and timestamp is stored indefinitely. The IP, time of submission and browser identifier is stored for 5 years.
How we protect the data?
We encrypt the data when we transfer it, access to the data is limited to protected using various authentication mechanisms like personal logins or member specific api key identifiers.
How can I retrieve, correct or delete my data?
Please contact us using the contact form on the website and include a photo of your device showing the MAC address on the screen (this is mandatory). Also state in your message if you want to retrieve, correct or delete your data.Â
